F. Demet Ulker

Director at Farcast

F. Demet Ulker has worked in a variety of roles in the aerospace engineering field since 2001. In that year, they began as a Research Assistant at Middle East Technical University. In 2005, they became a Research Assistant and Lecturer at Carleton University, where they conducted research on time-periodic reduced-order modelling of a rotor system, time-periodic robust controller design to suppress fluid induced vibrations of rotor systems, coupled aeroelastic modeling and analysis of a rotor system, and structural dynamics tests of full-scale blades with active pitch links. In 2008, they were a Visiting Researcher at the National Technical University of Athens. From 2011-2014, they worked as a Research Officer at the National Research Council's Institute of Aerospace Research. In 2014, they became a Senior Design Engineer at TUSAŞ - Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayii A.Ş. / Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. (TAI). From 2017-2020, they were a Senior Lead Researcher at Envision Energy, where they conducted forensic analysis for blade-tower strikes, developed stochastic models for turbines at complex terrains for sector-wise control scheduling, and developed yaw control concepts under uncertainties. In 2020, they became a Lecturer at the University of Colorado Boulder and Director at DASH Systems, Inc. F. Demet is currently an Instructor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

F. Demet Ulker obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi / Middle East Technical University between 1997 and 2001. F. Demet then went on to obtain an M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from the same university between 2001 and 2003. Finally, they completed their Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University in 2011.
