Dimitar Kolev

Dimitar Kolev is the Director of Asset Liability Management at Farmer Mac. Dimitar has over three years of experience in the financial industry, managing market risk and developing risk management processes.

Prior to joining Farmer Mac, Dimitar worked at E*TRADE Financial Corporation for four years. Dimitar started as a Manager in Market Risk, where they were responsible for tracking the changes in value of equity and net interest income under various interest rate stress scenarios. Dimitar also analyzed the key drivers for these changes month-over-month and produced attribution analyses for senior management. In this role, they also developed and implemented back-testing processes to ensure accuracy of the ALM models and validity of the stress testing results.

During their time at E*TRADE, Dimitar also led projects aimed at automating existing market risk reporting processes and reducing operational risk. Dimitar created procedures for extracting large amounts of data and taught team members how to use these procedures and techniques. Dimitar also provided technical assessments and evaluations related to the impact of interest rate and liquidity risk, as requested by senior management. In their final role at E*TRADE, Dimitar supported the Second Line of Defense for liquidity risk management. Dimitar provided periodic reviews on the internal stress testing assumptions, results, and methodologies and presented these results to senior management.

Dimitar has a strong background in financial analysis and risk management. Their experience has taught him how to effectively manage market risk and develop processes to reduce operational risk. These skills will be valuable in their new role at Farmer Mac.

Dimitar Kolev has a Master of Science in Management from Imperial College London, a Master of Science in Finance from the American University - Kogod School of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. Dimitar is also a CFA Charterholder and holds certifications from the SAS Institute and Bloomberg LP.
