Gary Matteson is a seasoned agricultural advocate and consultant, currently serving as a Senior Advisor to the Farm Credit Council and Chairman of the Board for the Farmer Veteran Coalition. With extensive experience in promoting programs for beginning farmers and military veterans in agriculture, Gary has held various leadership roles, including S.V.P. of Beginning Farmer Programs and Outreach at the Farm Credit Council, and board positions with organizations like the Boston Flower Exchange, NH Center for Public Policy, and New Hampshire Workforce Opportunity Council. Gary's diverse background also includes 30 years as a wholesale greenhouse cut flower grower, contributing to community development initiatives and economic growth through their work with NH Made. Gary holds a BS in Agronomy and a BA in Biology from the University of Connecticut.

The mission of the Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC) is to mobilize veterans to feed America. We cultivate a new generation of farmers and food leaders, and develop viable employment and meaningful careers through the collaboration of the farming and military communities. We believe that food production offers purpose and opportunity as well as physical and psychological benefits. The Farmer Veteran Coalition serves military veterans of all eras and branches. We work with veterans, their families, employers and mentors to support those returning to or beginning careers in food and farming.
