Karen Jim has been working as a science teacher and sponsor at Farmington Municipal Schools since August 2013. Prior to this, Karen taught 5th grade at FARMINGTON MUNICIPAL SCHOOLS DISTRICT 5. Before that Karen was a science teacher at Native American Community Academy. Karen also has experience as a teacher at Congregation B'nai Israel. Karen earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix in 2021 and a Bachelor of Science in Education in Elementary Education and Teaching from University of New Mexico in 2010.

The District has more than 11,000 students enrolled and employs over 1,700 staff, including 711 teachers. The District has 19 schools: 1 Pre-K Academy, 10 Elementary Schools, 4 Middle Schools, and 4 High Schools.
