Michael J. Bourassa serves as President of The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law since July 2024. With extensive experience in the legal field, Michael has been a member of the Global Mining Group at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP since August 2003, where coordination of the group occurred from 2004 to 2012. Michael previously held leadership roles as Co-Chair of the IBA Mining Law Committee from January 2017 to January 2019 and as a Director at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) from March 2003 to March 2017. Additional experience includes serving as a Partner at Aird & Berlis LLP from 1990 to 2003 and as Legal Counsel at the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines from 1986 to 1990. Education comprises an LL.B. in Law and a BSc (Hons) in Physical Geography from the University of Saskatchewan, completed between 1981 and 1984.
