Ashley Nelson

Ashley Nelson has a diverse work experience, starting in 2011 as a .NET Development Intern at General Mills. Ashley developed a .NET application in C# for the company. In 2012, they worked as a Mobile Development Intern, creating a hybrid mobile application for searching and browsing Microsoft SharePoint.

From 2011 to 2013, Ashley worked as a Computer Engineering TA at Iowa State University. Ashley provided support and assistance to students in computer engineering courses.

In 2013, Ashley returned to General Mills as a Senior DevOps Engineer. Ashley deployed and maintained multiple Kubernetes clusters and transitioned developers and data scientists to container technologies. Ashley also automated and maintained enterprise infrastructure with a DevOps mindset.

In 2019, Ashley joined MariaDB Corporation as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. Ashley worked on a small team developing and supporting the SkySQL SaaS offering. Their responsibilities included developing new features, designing logging and monitoring solutions, and ensuring security.

In 2020, Ashley became the Lead Site Reliability Engineer at MariaDB Corporation, overseeing the development and support of the SkySQL SaaS offering.

Ashley's most recent role is at Fastly, where they started in 2020 as a Senior Software Engineer. Ashley currently holds the role of Staff Software Engineer, contributing to the company's software development.

Throughout their career, Ashley has gained experience in various programming languages and technologies, including C#, Go, Python, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Bash. Ashley has a strong focus on automation, infrastructure management, and software development.

Ashley Nelson attended Iowa State University from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Engineering.
