James Hall

James Hall has extensive work experience spanning several industries. James currently holds the position of Senior Principal Sales Engineer at Fastly, a role they started in April 2023.

Prior to their current position, James co-founded ShoulderHill Entertainment in May 2005.

From June 2019 to April 2021, James worked as a Senior Sales Engineer - EMEA at Fastly, and from June 2017 to May 2019, they held the role of Sales Engineer - Media & Entertainment at the same company.

Before joining Fastly, James served as the Vice President of Technology at IGN Entertainment from February 2013 to February 2017. During their tenure, they oversaw various teams and projects, including the migration of data centers, implementation of multi-CDN technology, and improvement of site reliability.

From January 2007 to January 2013, James held multiple roles at World Television, including COO and Chief Technology Officer. James also worked as the Vice President of Operations and Technology at MultiVu from 2002 to 2006 and as the Director of Streaming Services at PR Newswire from 2000 to 2002.

Prior to these roles, James served as the VP of Technology at Pseudo Programs, Inc from 1996 to 2000 and as a Scheduler at The MacDougall Company from 1990 to 1991.

James began their career in the theater industry, starting as a volunteer fly line operator at TheatreWorks in September 1984. Over the years, they gained valuable experience and rose to the position of Stage Manager and Co-Production Manager by the age of 19.

Overall, James Hall has a diverse background with expertise in sales engineering, technology leadership, and theater production.

James Hall completed their education at New York University. From 1989 to 1993, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in French Society and Culture, as well as a BFA in Film and Television Production. Then, between 1994 and 1996, James obtained a Masters degree in Interactive Telecommunications.
