Paul Thompson

Paul Thompson started their work experience in 1992 as a Quality Assurance Analyst co-op at Cognos. Paul then held various roles at Cognos, including Software Engineer in Application Development Tools, PowerPlay Data Services, and Configuration Manager. During their time at Cognos, they received a Special Contribution Award for their work on the Cognos Configuration Manager. In 1994, Paul worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist co-op at Corel Corporation. Paul then returned to Cognos in 1995 as a Software Engineer and worked on projects involving PowerPlay Data Services and Multidimensional Data Services. In 2002, Paul joined IBM as a Software Engineer and held roles as a Software Engineer, Metadata and Modeling, and Software Engineer, Front End. Paul was responsible for designing and implementing tools and interfaces for IBM Cognos Analytics. In 2008, Paul became a Software Engineering Manager at IBM, leading teams and ensuring project delivery. In 2023, they joined Fastly as a Software Engineering Manager.

Paul Thompson attended the University of Waterloo from 1991 to 1997, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology. In addition to their formal education, Paul has also obtained various certifications throughout their career. These certifications include "License to Lead - First-Line Manager" from IBM, received in November 2022, and "IBM Agile Advocate" from IBM, achieved in December 2021. Paul has also completed several Coursera course certificates, including "Machine Learning" in August 2016 and "Introduction to Software Product Management" in June 2016. Lastly, Paul has the certification of "IBM Agile Explorer" without specified information regarding the month and year of accomplishment.
