Joanne Wilson is the current Head of People at FatFace, a position they have held for 16 years. Prior to that, they were the Talent Management Lead, Retail Operations and Wholesale Manager, and Project Manager/Retail Operations. In their current role, they are responsible for developing and implementing workable appraisal and succession planning mechanisms that cross multiple geographical locations, utilizing the apprenticeship levy to maximise the businesses access to new talent as well as developing the high potential within the existing workforce, managing a training budget working with department heads to effectively deliver the calendar without impacting business critical periods, conducting training needs analysis across the multiple functions within the business in order to create a responsive suite of L&D solutions that maximise the capability of the workforce, creating development solutions including short bite size training and commercial management programmes, liaising with the external suppliers of major development services to ensure that they are meeting the internal requirements, implementing a suite of internally developed training programmes on a LMS system that increases the accessibility of learning content across the business, coaching managers to enable them to more effectively develop they team and manage performance, standing in for the Head of HR as required, working with the finance team to effectively measure and deliver reports that demonstrate the true return on investment for all development programmes, undertaking quarterly people reviews with line managers, mapping out high performance and high potential individuals, and delivering training sessions to large audiences at key critical times of the year to aid in the businesses ability to maximise commercial performance.
