Phil McNamara has diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics and clinical research. Phil is currently working as a Bioinformatics Platform Developer at FaunaBio since October 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Bioinformatics Research Associate at JGU from April 2019 to October 2021.

Before their role at JGU, Phil worked at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in various positions. Phil started as a Research Study Assistant in April 2015 and later became a Clinical Research Data Coordinator from November 2015 to May 2017. Phil then worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator from June 2017 to June 2018.

Phil also gained experience as a Student Research Assistant at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from September 2014 to March 2015. Phil earlier had a brief role as a Student Assistant/NWBT Consenter at UW Medicine from July 2014 to August 2014.

Phil McNamara received their International Baccalaureate Diploma from Columbia River High School in 2011. Phil then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington from 2011 to 2015. In 2018, Phil enrolled at the University of Oregon to obtain a Master of Science in Bioinformatics and Genomics, which they completed in 2019.
