Jay Jones

High School Associate Principal at Fayette County Public Schools (KY)

Jay Jones, Jr. has extensive work experience in the education sector. Jay started their career as a Music Teacher and Orchestra Director at Fayette County Public Schools in 2005. During this time, Jay focused on molding their students into good citizens through the teaching of music and instilling qualities such as sensitivity, discipline, and endurance. Jay later transitioned to the role of Administrative Dean, where they served until 2013. In 2013, Jay became an Elementary School Principal and successfully held this position until 2020. Jay then took on the role of Middle School Associate Principal, where they currently work, empowering students with the motto "Warriors have POWER."

Jay Jones, Jr. has a Bachelor's degree in Arts Administration and Music Education from the University of Kentucky College of Fine Arts. Jay also has a Master's degree in Music Education from Eastern Kentucky University. In addition, they hold a Master's degree with Principal Certification in Educational Leadership from Morehead State University. Jay has further certifications in K-12 Music Education and K-12 School Principal, Level 2 from the KY Education Professional Standards Board. Jay has obtained certificates from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, including a School Turn Around Leader Certificate and a Data Wise Certificate. Jay has also completed the Kentucky Leadership Institute for School Principals through the Center for Creative Leadership and the National Institute of School Leadership (NISL).
