Brian Carlson has extensive experience in law enforcement, currently serving as a Probation Officer at Washington Courthouse Municipal Court since September 2016 and as a Detective at Fayette County Sheriff's Office since April 2014. Previously, Brian held the position of Special Agent in Charge at the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation from October 1983 to November 2013. Brian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania between 1976 and 1978.

Stanforth, Sheriff has been the Sheriff in Fayette County since 1997. He continues to provide strong leadership for the office today. The Sheriff's Office prides itself in being proactive in approaches to improve technology while still staying within budgets. The Sheriff encourages community involvement and welcomes suggestions. The top priority of the office is safety for the citizens of Fayette County. Fayette County has its own Jail and Communications Center all run under the direction of Sheriff Stanforth.
