Douglas Swol is an experienced aviation professional currently serving as the Acting Program Manager for both En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) and Offshore/Oceanic Automation Systems at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) since September 2019. Previously, Douglas held roles as the Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) Deputy Program Manager and Lead Systems Engineer, overseeing the technical development and implementation of the TFDM system. Prior to joining the FAA, Douglas worked at MITRE as a Group Lead and Lead Aviation Systems Engineer, managing a team and contributing to various FAA projects, including the development of a mobile application for general aviation pilots. Douglas's earlier experience includes roles at Metron Aviation, Systems Planning & Analysis, and Thomson Medstat, with a strong focus on aviation systems engineering and analytical modeling. Douglas holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor’s degree in Math and Economics from Northwestern University.
