Andy Xu has extensive experience in risk management, specifically in the financial and banking industry. Andy began their career as a Risk Analytics Manager at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines in 2005, where they closely monitored business activities and ensured compliance with market risk policies. Andy then joined Ally Financial Inc. in 2008 as the Manager of ALM Engineers, leading the implementation of a centralized ALM system and coordinating financial and credit modeling efforts. In 2009, Andy returned to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines as the VP/Model Risk Officer, overseeing model validation and compliance with regulations on model risk management. Andy also served as the VP/Market Risk Officer, chairing the market risk committee and providing expertise on interest rate risk management. Andy currently holds the position of First Vice President and Director of Model Risk Management at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, where they lead the enterprise model risk management function and ensures compliance with regulatory guidance.
Andy Xu holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Renmin University of China, which they obtained in 1995. Andy then pursued their Master's degree in International Economics from the same university, completing it in 1998. Following this, they enrolled at Iowa State University and earned a Master's in Statistics from 1999 to 2001. Andy continued their education at Iowa State University and obtained a Ph.D. in Economics in 2004. Lastly, they attended the University of Chicago from 2012 to 2014, where they received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Finance.
