Doug Carlson has a diverse work experience. Doug started their career at Argus Systems Group in 2000 as a Trusted Systems Engineer until 2002. Then, they moved to Prograf LLC in 2002 where they worked as a Software Developer until 2004. In that year, they transitioned to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago where they took on the role of Lead Software Developer. Later on, they became a VP-Portfolio Manager.

Doug Carlson earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1996 to 2000. Afterward, they pursued further education at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where they obtained an MBA degree from 2010 to 2012. During their MBA studies, Doug focused on subjects such as Finance, Analytical Finance, Economics, Accounting, and Entrepreneurship.
