Paul Sand

Vice President, Technology Risk Officer at Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago

Paul Sand has extensive work experience in the technology and security field. Paul started their career as a Manager in the Network Systems Group at AT&T, where they had P&L accountability for defining product feature set and new hardware designs. Paul then moved to Lucent Technologies, where they held various roles including Director and Senior Manager in the Switching Solutions Group Product Management, managing multi-million dollar budgets and leading teams of product managers and engineers.

In 2003, Paul joined mVerify Corporation as Vice President of Business Development before becoming President and Board Director of Salare Security LLC in 2007. Paul later served as Senior Vice President at IP3, managing day-to-day operations.

Paul's involvement in information security and critical infrastructure protection led him to hold leadership positions in InfraGard Chicago Members Alliance, where they served as Secretary, Programming Director, President, and Chairman of the Board. Paul also served as a Board Director and Vice President at InfraGard National Members Alliance.

In 2011, Paul joined the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago as Vice President, Independent Security Officer. Paul later transitioned to the role of Vice President, Technology Risk Officer, where they partnered with the Bank's business lines to manage technology and security risks.

Currently, Paul is an Advisory Board Member for the US Secret Service Chicago Cyber Fraud Task Force, providing support and advice on membership activities.

Paul Sand holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Northwestern University. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Business, History, and Computer Science from the University of Jamestown. Additionally, Paul has obtained certifications such as the NACD Certificate in Cyber-Risk Oversight from the National Association of Corporate Directors in February 2022 and the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from ISC (2) in April 2011. Paul was also part of the FBI Chicago Citizens Academy Class of 2012, although no specific degree or field of study information is provided for this experience.
