Erik Gerlings, CAIA has extensive work experience in the financial industry. Erik began their career at Robertson Stephens Investment Management as a manager of trade processing and settlements. In this role, they were responsible for domestic and international trade settlements for a multi-product investment manager.

Gerlings then moved on to Morgan Stanley, where they held various roles. Erik started as a Prime Brokerage Client Service Representative, managing a portfolio of hedge fund and private equity clients. Erik built and enhanced relationships with clients while focusing on maximizing wallet share and minimizing operational risk. Erik also played a key role in identifying opportunities for enhanced straight-through processing.

At Morgan Stanley, Gerlings was promoted to Vice President and took on roles such as Prime Brokerage, Client Service Manager in Chicago, where they built and ran a local client service presence and managed a team of representatives. Erik also joined the global coverage team in New York, covering clients in London and Hong Kong with a presence in the US. Erik worked closely with IT and Product Development teams to improve client service efficiency and harmonize the client experience.

Gerlings then became the Head of Institutional Equity Commission Management Business in the Americas at Morgan Stanley, where they managed a commission management desk and a team of professionals. Erik marketed the commission management product to institutional asset manager clients and presented regular business updates to firm management.

Currently, Gerlings is the Managing Director, Derivatives and Hedge Accounting & Analysis at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco. Prior to this role, they were the Vice President of Derivatives and Hedge Accounting & Analysis at the same company.

Erik Gerlings, CAIA, completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Colorado State University. Erik also holds a post-graduate degree, PCBS Foster Graduate School of Banking and Finance, from the University of Washington - Michael G. Foster School of Business. Additionally, Erik has several professional certifications including CAIA Charterholder from the CAIA Association, FINRA Series 24 from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), FINRA Series 63 from FINRA, and FINRA Series 7 from FINRA. Erik is also a Level II Candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute.
