James Lovejoy is the Director of Engineering at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where responsibilities include leading digital currency research and development since August 2020. Prior to this role, James served as a Senior Software Architect and Lead Engineer at the MIT Media Lab's Digital Currency Initiative, contributing to projects such as CryptoKernel and a lightning network implementation from June 2016 to May 2020. Additional experience includes a teaching assistant position for the course MAS. S62: Cryptocurrency Engineering and Design at the MIT Media Lab. James Lovejoy holds a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, obtained in 2020, and a Bachelor of Science in the same field from MIT, completed in 2019. Education was initiated at The Skinners' School, where attendance spanned from 2008 to 2015.
