Craig Zahnd

Craig Zahnd is the Senior Vice President, Legal and Administrative Services Division, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Craig has over 20 years of experience in the legal field. Craig has worked as Managing Director and General Counsel - Americas Region for Swiss Reinsurance Company from January 2009 to December 2019. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team of over twenty attorneys and paralegals/assistants with a budget of over $6M and responsibilities in the US, Canada and Latin America. Craig also served as primary legal counsel to Americas-based reinsurance business (including participation on management team) and advisor on overall strategy, initiatives, restructuring efforts and legal entity operational model.

From December 2019 to present, Craig has served as the Senior Vice President, Legal and Administrative Services Division, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. In this role, they are responsible for providing legal support and advice to the Bank’s Board of Directors, President and senior management on all legal matters. Craig also oversees the Bank’s Legal Division, which consists of approximately 30 lawyers who provide support on a broad range of transactional, regulatory and litigation matters.

Craig Zahnd received a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration and Management, General from William Jewell College.

Craig Zahnd reports to Esther L. George, President and Chief Executive Officer. They are on a team with Donna J. Ward - SVP, Administrative Services Division, Tara Humston - Senior Vice President, Supervision and Risk Management Division, and Josias A. Aleman - Senior Vice President and General Auditor.
