Tom Lynch has a range of work experiences in software engineering and data-related roles. Tom started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Minnesota, where they developed tools for data visualization and coding occupations. Tom then worked as a Research Specialist, specializing in data extraction and utilizing high-performance computing resources. At the same institution, they also worked as a Coordinator, where they wrote record linkage software and implemented it in Perl. After that, they joined LaunchCode as a Teaching Fellow, where they guided students through coding courses and tracked their progress. Currently, Tom is working at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City as a Lead Software Engineer, having previously held the roles of Senior Software Engineer and Data Engineer.

Tom Lynch obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Anthropology from the University of Minnesota from 2004 to 2007. In 2016 to 2017, they earned a Full Stack Web Development Certification from freeCodeCamp. Additionally, Tom has obtained certifications such as the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in September 2020 and several edX Honor Code Certificates for Introduction to Statistics modules.
