Vice President, Technology And Ecosystem Development at Federated Wireless

Masoud Olfat has extensive work experience in the field of technology development and standards. Masoud started their career in 1990 as an Engineer working on computer networking and neural network projects. From 1997 to 2001, they were a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Odyssey Technologies Inc. Masoud then worked as a Manager of 4G Access at Sprint Nextel from 2003 to 2008, where they were responsible for WiMAX technology development and standards participation.

In 2008, Masoud joined Clearwire as Manager of 4G Standards, where they were involved in global standard participation and provided technology support. Masoud later joined LightSquared in 2010 as the Director of RAN Technology and Global Standards. In this role, they were responsible for LTE technology development, eNB development and testing, and defining LTE technology requirements.

In 2015, Masoud joined Federated Wireless as the Director of Product Technology & Standards. Masoud led various standard activities and supported spectrum access system development, LTE development, and technical regulatory developments. In 2018, they were promoted to Senior Director, Technologies and Standard Development, and then in 2020, they assumed the role of Vice President of Technology Development.

Throughout their career, Masoud has also been involved in training, including numerous short courses in 3GPP LTE, WiMAX, and IEEE802.11. Masoud has also served as adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland at College Park and SouthEastern University.

Masoud Olfat has a strong educational background in the field of wireless communications and electronics. Masoud first attended Sharif University of Technology from 1984 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Electronics. Masoud later pursued further education at the University of Maryland, graduating with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Wireless Communication from 1996 to 1998. Continuing their academic journey, Masoud Olfat then completed their PhD in Wireless Communications at the University of Maryland from 1999 to 2003.
