FPWA is a leading anti-poverty policy and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening human services organizations and faith institutions and advancing economic opportunity and justice for New Yorkers with low incomes. Since 1922, FPWA has driven groundbreaking policy reforms to better serve those in need. We work to dismantle the systemic barriers that impede economic security and well-being and strengthen the capacity of human services agencies and faith organizations so New Yorkers with lower incomes can thrive and live with dignity.
 
FPWA’s work is focused around three central tenets: ensuring New Yorkers with lower income have the necessary income and potential for building assets that enable them to thrive, not merely get by; ensuring an equitable, just, and appropriately resourced human services sector that is responsive to the needs of New Yorkers; and dismantling the unjust structures and systems that inhibit New Yorkers’ rights to live with dignity and equitable access to power and opportunity.

The Policy and Research Team at FPWA conducts thorough research, data analysis, and policy advocacy to identify and dismantle systemic barriers affecting low-income New Yorkers. They develop and advocate for data-driven policies that promote economic security, strengthen human services, and ensure equitable access to opportunities and resources. The team works closely with human services organizations and faith institutions to support strategic initiatives that drive meaningful policy reforms.
