Salman Avestimehr

Salman Avestimehr has extensive work experience in academia and the technology industry. Salman is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at FedML since February 2022. Prior to their current role, they held several positions at the University of Southern California (USC), including Dean's Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering & Computer Science, Inaugural Director of USC-Amazon Center on Trusted AI, and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering & Computer Science. Salman also worked as an Amazon Scholar from December 2020 to February 2022. Before joining USC, they worked as an Associate Professor at Cornell University and as an Assistant Professor at Caltech. Additionally, they gained industry experience as a part-time research scientist at Wichorus and as an intern at Qualcomm Inc.

Salman Avestimehr obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology between 1999 and 2003. Subsequently, they pursued their doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2003 to 2008, specializing in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS).
