Susan Taves, MS has a diverse and extensive work experience in the culinary field. Susan'smost recent position is as the Director of Culinary at Feeding South Florida starting from November 2021. Prior to that, they worked as an Executive Chef at Guckenheimer from October 2018 to November 2021. Susan also served as an Adjunct Faculty at Harper College from January 2015 to August 2019.

Susan has a strong entrepreneurial background as the Chef/Owner of Sweet Cassava, a boutique catering and meal service business focused on organic sustainably sourced food. During their time there from September 2003 to September 2018, Susan reduced food waste and single-use plastics by 50% through diligent sourcing and composting.

Susan has also taught culinary skills as a Chef Instructor at various institutions. Susan worked at Oakton Community College from 2006 to January 2018, Sur La Table from October 2011 to August 2016, Glencoe Park District from September 2010 to May 2016, and the Illinois Institute of Art from 2005 to 2007.

In addition to their culinary work, Susan has experience as a consultant. Susan served as a Consultant for the National Environmental Trust from 2003 to 2004, where they coordinated a successful public relations campaign for the Take A Pass On Chilean Sea Bass initiative in Chicago and Miami. Susan also worked as a Consultant/Trainer for the Chicago Public Schools from 2002 to 2003.

Susan Taves has a comprehensive education history, encompassing various fields of study. In 1999, they pursued a degree in Culinary Arts at CHIC, which they completed in 2001. Additionally, during the same year, they attended the French Pastry School. Susan also holds a Bachelor's degree in English Literature with a minor in Photography from UIC. Susan furthered their education at Roosevelt University, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Hospitality Administration/Management in 2019. In 2021, Susan expanded their knowledge by earning a Certificate in Circular Economy and Sustainable Strategies from the University of Cambridge. As reflected in their education history, Susan possesses a diverse range of skills and expertise in various academic disciplines.
