Jiao-Zhong Gu, PhD is the Chief Executive Officer of FEI Systems. Dr. Gu founded FEI in 1999 with a single contract to develop a clinical research lab system for Johns Hopkins University. Since then, he has grown FEI from a modest start-up to a robust organization with more than 500 full-time employees—all focused on providing health IT solutions for Federal and State Government health and human services.

Under Dr. Gu’s leadership, FEI has been awarded mission-critical health IT contracts across the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Defense, the Department of Veteran Affairs, and more. Dr. Gu has leveraged relationships with Federal, State, and international health care leaders to expand the company’s business into multiple strategic markets. He led the development of FEI’s behavioral health electronic health record solution Web Infrastructure for Treatment Services (WITS), implemented in more than 30 States and counties. He also led the development of FEI’s integrated Long-Term Services and Support (LTSS) product, Carity, implemented in multiple States, and CareVisit, FEI’s Electronic Visit and Verification (EVV) solution.

Before founding FEI, Dr. Gu served as the Lead Architect and System Analyst for the FAA National Air Safety and Analysis Center for Macfadden and Associates. Dr. Gu has more than 30 years of broad experience in system engineering, industrial marketing, organizational development, and public health IT. Dr. Gu earned a PhD in Industrial Engineering, a Master of Science in Industrial and Management Engineering, and a Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering.
