Paul Phillipsen has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Paul is currently the CTO & Director of Propulsion Systems at Fenix Space since September 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Director of Propulsion Systems at Fenix Space from April 2019.
Before joining Fenix Space, Paul worked at Smart Wires Inc. where they held various positions including Consultant from October 2018 to March 2019, Senior Vice President from November 2016 to October 2018, Vice President R&D Operations from October 2015 to November 2016, and Senior Director, R&D Operations from April 2013 to October 2015.
Paul also worked at WASK Engineering, Inc. as a Program Manager from June 2005 to March 2013. Paul served on the Board of Directors at Boundless Corporation from May 2006 to July 2010.
Additionally, Paul worked at UMS Group as a Senior Associate from June 1999 to June 2005. Paul started their career at Aerojet as a Program Manager from August 1985 to May 1999, where they were responsible for leading diverse teams and managing profit and loss for various programs in the aerospace industry.
Paul Phillipsen's education history begins in 1971 when they attended the American School in Japan (ASIJ) in Tokyo, Japan for their college preparation. Paul continued their education at the American Community Schools in Athens, Greece from 1975 to 1977, where they obtained their high school diploma. In 1977, Paul gained admission to the United States Military Academy at West Point and studied computer science until 1979, although they did not earn a degree. Finally, they pursued their bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on design at San Jose State University from 1980 to 1985, successfully receiving their BSME degree.
