Dick Shelley has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Dick began their career in 1969 as a guitar player for a film produced by the Florida Department of Agriculture. In 1972, they played the piano for renowned musicians Lightnin' Hopkins and Chuck Berry. During the same period, they co-founded a music group called Kane's Cousins and served as a writer and performer. From 1972 to 1974, they worked as a writer and performer for the band Early Grey. In 1975, they served as an improvisational electronic musician for Edmund Skellings, Electric Poet Laureate of Florida. Dick also worked as a sales and manager at Music City Music Store from 1979 to 1981. In 1991, they joined Fern Exposition & Event Services as an account executive, and later served as the production manager and operations/warehouse manager. In 1996, they were promoted to the position of National Sales Manager. In 1998, they played keyboards for Shelby Lynne on their Grammy-winning album "I Am Shelby Lynne".
Dick Shelley received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science-International Law from the University of Florida, where they attended from 1962 to 1966.
