Mario Tartaglia

Mario Tartaglia is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in transportation engineering and sustainable mobility. Currently serving as the Head of the FS Research Centre at Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane since April 2010, Mario also holds the position of Department Manager for Strategic Studies, Models, and Statistics. In October 2023, Mario joined the Board of Directors at MOST - National Centre for Sustainable Mobility. As an adjunct professor at Università degli Studi di Firenze since 1991, Mario teaches various courses related to transportation planning and geographic information systems. Additional roles include Chairman of the Scientific Board at Agens, member of the Scientific Committee at Confindustria, and participation in several international transportation forums and committees, including the International Transport Forum and the European Union Agency for Railways. Mario holds a PhD in Transportation Engineering from Università di Pisa and has completed postgraduate studies in railway technology and policy.
