Completions Engineer at Fervo Energy

Leslie Maldonado has a diverse work experience in the oil and gas industry. They started their career as a Secretary at Kleberg County Precinct Two, where they were responsible for preparing purchase orders and completing precinct transactions. They then gained experience as a Production Engineer Intern at Concho, where they worked in both field and office environments, collaborating with artificial lift technicians, foremen, and lease operators.

After that, Leslie worked as an Undergraduate Petroleum Engineering Researcher at Texas A&M University at Qatar, focusing on hydraulic and natural fracturing network analysis and conducting research papers on previous hydraulic fracturing studies. They later interned at Concho again, this time as a Drilling & Completions Engineering Intern, where they received training in completion operations such as frac, wireline, and drill-out, as well as drilling operations.

Leslie then joined TutorJohn as an Office Staff-Tutor before returning to Concho as a Drilling Engineer in the Permian Basin. During this role, they also served as a wellsite supervisor for drilling rig locations and completions operations such as frac jobs, workovers, and drill outs. They gained valuable experience in project development, efficiencies, and gained field training in production engineering.

Following their time at Concho, Leslie worked as a Well Planning Engineer at Turnazontal, LLC, contributing to well planning projects. They then joined Tenaris as a Technical Sales Engineer, where they focused on casing string technical sales in the Haynesville shale and gained experience in the DJ Basin and Powder River Basin.

Most recently, Leslie has been working at Fervo Energy as a Completions Engineer, starting in February 2023.

Leslie Maldonado obtained a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University from 2016 to 2019. In 2017, they also attended Texas A&M University at Qatar to pursue the same Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering. Prior to their time at Texas A&M University, Leslie studied Chemical Engineering and Natural Gas Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville from 2015 to 2016. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained an H2S Certification from ABC Safety Solutions in May 2022. Leslie also obtained the IADC Well Control: Level 4 certification from Murchison Drilling Schools, Inc. in August 2019, as well as the IADC Well Control certification from Smith Mason & Co in February 2017.
