Community Engagement Project Manager at FHI Studio

Raul Irizarry's work experience begins in 2012 as an intern at the City of Hartford in the Marketing Events and Cultural Affairs department. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as an Employer Community Liaison at the Center for Latino Progress, where they developed relationships with human resource staff to identify employment needs and market the Center's clients. In 2017, Raul served as a consultant for the Keney Park Sustainability Project/Garden Club of Hartford. From 2018 to 2019, they worked as a Transportation Planning Intern at the Capitol Region Council of Governments and as a Transport Hartford Intern at the Transport Hartford Academy - Center for Latino Progress. In 2019, Raul took on two roles: a Junior Landscape Architect at Eric Rains Landscape Architecture and a Research Assistant at the University of Connecticut. At the university, they focused on researching the correlation between the built environment and crime, as well as determining a "Campus Neighborhood" boundary for UConn Storrs Campus. In 2019, Raul also worked as a Project Manager at Artbox-Lot. Most recently, they have been working at The Trust for Public Land since 2020 as the Parks for People - CT Program Manager. Beginning in April 2023, Raul will be taking on a new role as the Community Engagement Project Manager at FHI Studio.

Raul Irizarry has a diverse education history spanning several years. Raul received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Connecticut between the years 2016 and 2019. Prior to that, from 2007 to 2012, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Urban and Community Studies at the same university. During the same period, Raul also earned a minor in Latino Studies. In addition to their formal education, they obtained a certification in Non Profit Management from the University of Connecticut and the Hispanic Federation in February 2015.
