Shiann Shin Yamin has worked in the engineering field since 2005. Shiann Shin began their career as an Undergraduate Project Technician and Audio/Video Technician at The Cooper Union. In 2004, they worked as a Manufacturing Intern at BioArray Solutions. In 2005, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Nexcore Technology Inc. From 2010 to 2014, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer A and B at Mistras Group, Inc. During this time, they designed TABLET UT™, a ruggedized hand-held tablet computer system for field ultrasonic inspection and reporting, and managed a small team of engineers and technicians. From 2014 to 2017, they worked as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at MakerBot®, where they served as lead design engineer for the Replicator+ and worked closely with process, quality, test, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, marketing, and PR. In 2017, they became a Lead Mechanical Engineer at Fi - HQ.

Shiann Shin Yamin began their educational journey in 1999, when they attended Watching Hills Regional High School and earned their High School degree in Physics. In 2002, they attended Rutgers University for a Summer Program and a Year Long Independent Study in Astrophysics. From 2003 to 2007, Shiann attended The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Finally, Shiann returned to The Cooper Union and obtained a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2009.
