Andrew Schober

Sr. Vice President and CTO at Fibertek

Andrew Schober has a diverse work experience in the field of laser systems and technologies. Andrew began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Stanford University in 1998, where they developed engineered quasi-phase-matching devices for tailored frequency conversion of short laser pulses. Andrew'sprojects included tunable pulse compression devices, ultra-broadband frequency converters, and tailored excitation of multi-wavelength spatial solitons.

In 2005, Schober joined Lockheed Martin as a Research Scientist, Sr. In this role, they served as a subject matter expert in frequency conversion technologies and high-energy solid-state lasers. Andrew designed and fielded multiple first-of-kind laser systems for laser remote sensing applications. Andrew later became a Research Scientist Staff and led multiple laser transmitter development activities, including the development of multi-wavelength lasers for bio-aerosol sensors and custom wavelength and wavelength-agile laser systems.

From 2013 to 2014, Schober held the position of Research Scientist, Sr. Staff at Lockheed Martin, where they served as a system architect for laser transmitter technologies tailored to the specific needs of laser remote sensing missions. Andrew was the Principal Investigator for multiple government programs and internally-funded technology developments, overseeing the technical execution of $5-10 million of applied research and demonstration activities.

In 2014, Schober was promoted to the role of Laser Science Group Manager at Lockheed Martin. In this position, they were responsible for technology and business strategy in laser systems and technologies. Andrew oversaw the technical execution of laser development programs, managed a group of 20 talented scientists and engineers, and served as the primary point of contact on laser technologies for Lockheed Martin's Space Systems Company Advanced Technology Center.

Since 2017, Schober has been working at Fibertek Inc., initially as the Director of Technology, and later as the Chief Technology Officer. In October 2020, they were promoted to the position of Senior Vice President and CTO.

Andrew Schober completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics at Case Western Reserve University from 1994 to 1998. Andrew then pursued higher education at Stanford University, where they completed both their Master of Science and PhD degrees in Applied Physics from 1998 to 2005.
