Ian Smith

Ian Smith is an experienced electrical power engineer with a robust background in power system design and specification, project management, and consultancy. Since January 2012, Ian has been working at Fichtner, focusing on power station electrical system construction, feasibility studies, and engineering consultancy. Prior to this, Ian held positions at EA Technology/Energy Innovation Centre as a Senior Consultant/Technical Manager, and at Siemens Energy as a Primary Design Engineer, where responsibilities included evaluating high voltage substation equipment and leading primary substation design projects. Earlier career experience includes roles at PB Power and GEC Alsthom, where Ian managed the research and development of high voltage test laboratories. Ian holds a BEng(Hons) in Engineering Systems from The Manchester Metropolitan University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from Tameside College.
