Nick Davies

Nick Davies has a diverse work history, starting in 1999 as the Director of Business Development for X-Stream Network, one of the fastest-growing Internet service providers in the world. Nick later worked as the Country Manager for Completel in the UK and as a Strategic Accounts Manager for Intel Corporation. In 2003, they became the Technology and Operations Director for Tecient Card Solutions, a startup providing prepaid gift cards. Nick then joined IBM as a Lead Consulting Architect and later became a Client Executive. At Spark, Davies worked as a Principal Solution Architect specializing in Data Architecture. In 2014, they joined ASB Bank as the Principal Architect for Data and Analytics. In 2019, they became the Principal Architect for Data and Analytics at Kiwibank, where they were also involved in a significant transformation program. Currently, they are the Principal for Data Architecture and Engineering at Fidelity Life Assurance Company Limited, leading data platform and analytics platform squads.

Nick Davies attended The University of Auckland from 1978 to 1981 for their high school education at Auckland Boys Grammar. Nick then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from The University of Auckland from 1982 to 1987. Later, Nick completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDipBusAdmin) from The University of Auckland in the field of Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Operations, Managing People, and Quantitative Analysis from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, they pursued an MBA from The University of Auckland from 2007 to 2008. Nick also worked towards a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Economics from The University of Auckland from 2010 to 2012. Nick has obtained several certifications, including Enforcing Data Contracts with Kafka Schema Registry, Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer: Leveraging ARM Templates for Infrastructure, Git: The Big Picture, How Git Works, Data Analysis with Python, Learn to Program: The Fundamentals, Google Cloud Platform Big Data and Machine Learning Fundamentals, Leveraging Unstructured Data with Cloud Dataproc on Google Cloud Platform, and Serverless Data Analysis with Google BigQuery and Cloud Dataflow.
