Javier García, CPA has a diverse work experience in the field of taxation and finance. Javier started their career in 1996 as an Accounting Assistant at Despacho Pedroza Melández, S.C. Javier then worked as a Tax Assistant at Cooper Bussmann from 1998 to 1999. Javier joined Deloitte as a Tax Senior in 1999 and worked there until 2004.
In 2004, Javier became a Tax Manager at Scotiabank Inverlat, where they managed tax revisions and handled tax reports for the financial group. After leaving Scotiabank, they joined BP as a Tax Senior in 2006. At BP, they were responsible for the determination of federal taxes, transfer pricing studies, and customs operations.
Javier also held various roles at BP, including Business Operations and Delivery Manager E&P, where they worked closely with the Legal area and key regulators in Mexico. Javier contributed to the successful acquisition of database and scheduling of visits to the Data Room.
In 2019, Javier worked as a Freelance Tax/Oil & Gas Advisor at INNUS Consulting/GDO Lawyers before joining Marathon Petroleum Corporation as a Finance Gov Reporting/Tax - Finance Controls professional. In this role, they were responsible for reports, tax compliance supervision, and implementation of tax and finance controls.
Currently, Javier holds the position of Head of Tax at Fieldwood Energy LLC, a role they started in 2022.
Javier García, CPA, obtained their Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. Javier furthered their education by acquiring additional certifications. In September 2006, they obtained the "Contador Público Certificado" certification from the Colegio de Contadores Públicos de México, A.C. Moreover, in July 2017, Javier obtained a certification in "Regimen Juridico de la Industria de Hidrocarburos en Mexico" from the Centro de Estudios en Derecho y Gobierno.
