Helmut Spahn

Helmut Spahn serves as the Director of Safety, Security and Access at FIFA since May 2017, bringing extensive experience from previous roles, including Security Officer at UEFA from February 2007 to October 2024, where responsibilities included managing security for major tournaments like the Champions League and UEFA EURO 2012. Prior to that, Helmut Spahn held several senior positions at The ICSS between September 2011 and April 2017, and served as Sicherheitsbeauftragter and Hauptabteilungsleiter Sicherheit at Deutscher Fussball-Bund from September 2006 to September 2011. Additionally, Helmut Spahn was Head of Security for the LOC FIFA World Cup 2006, overseeing comprehensive security measures across multiple venues. Early career experiences include teaching at Verwaltungsfachhochschule and a lengthy tenure with Polizei Hessen, culminating as the leader of the Special Operations Command. Helmut Spahn's educational background features degrees in Public Administration from FH Wiesbaden and advanced police studies from Hochschule der Polizei.
