Emil Sjölander is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in engineering and product development. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering at Figma since February 2021, Emil previously co-founded and served as CEO of Visly Inc. from June 2018 to February 2021. Prior experience includes a role as a Software Engineer at Facebook from October 2015 to June 2018, where contributions were made to open source tools and libraries, including React Native, Yoga, Litho, and Flipper. Emil's earlier work includes positions as an Engineering Intern at Flipboard Inc. focusing on Android UI, and as a Mobile Developer and Interaction Designer at Screen Interaction AB. Emil's foundational career began at Syrligt as a Lead Developer and included a brief internship at Screen Interaction AB. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Interaction Design from Umeå University and participation in the Y Combinator program.
