Ryan Mao is a design leader with over 20 years of experience in Human-Machine Interface (HMI), user experience, and interaction frameworks across various industries, including automotive, industrial, aerospace, and robotics. They began their career as a Design Intern at Ford Motor Company, then progressed through roles at Siemens and Honeywell, where they developed innovative HMI systems for aerospace and industrial applications. At Boston Dynamics, Ryan served as the Director of User Experience Design, leading the design of intuitive interfaces for advanced robotic platforms. Currently, as the HMI Lead at Figure AI, Ryan architects engaging interaction frameworks for humanoid robots while pursuing a Master’s Degree in Computer Science at the University of Michigan.
