Head of Data Engineering at Filament AI

Alexander Horsfield has worked in the software engineering industry since 2010. Alexander began their career at Apple as a Specialist, where they were responsible for demonstrating the features and benefits of Apple products, answering customer queries, processing transactions, and more. In 2013, they worked as an Industrial Placement Student at Philips, where they worked on projects developing measurement devices for the detection of breathing difficulty in COPD patients and the development of innovative electric toothbrush concepts. In 2014, they worked as a Station Support Assistant at East Coast Main Line Company Ltd, where they assisted passengers while alighting and using wheelchairs and ramps.

In 2015, they worked at IBM as an Extreme Blue Technical Intern, where they developed a new REST API for an application, creating the remote computation and sorting of all the data. In 2016, they worked as a Software Engineer at IBM, where they provided the level 3 service on IBM Integration Bus. In 2017, they began working at Filament AI, where they held various roles including Head of Data Engineering, Lead Solutions Architect, Solutions Architect, Senior Backend Engineer, and Product Developer. In 2020, they began providing backend and solution architecture services on a freelance basis for SoftArc Consulting.

Alexander Horsfield attended Hermitage School from 2004 to 2011. Alexander then went on to obtain a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of York from 2011 to 2016. Alexander has also obtained several certifications, including Learn Google Go - Golang Programming for Beginners from StackSkills in 2021, Building Resilient Streaming Systems on Google Cloud Platform from Coursera in 2018, Data Engineering on Google Cloud Platform Specialization from Coursera in 2018, Google Cloud Platform Big Data and Machine Learning Fundamentals from Coursera in 2018, Leveraging Unstructured Data with Cloud Dataproc on Google Cloud Platform from Coursera in 2018, Serverless Data Analysis with Google BigQuery and Cloud Dataflow from Coursera in 2018, Serverless Machine Learning with Tensorflow on Google Cloud Platform from Coursera in 2018, IBM Extreme Blue™ from IBM in 2015, and PROFESSIONAL DATA ENGINEER from Google Cloud in 2018.
