Demetri Makoulis is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in sales, business development, and film distribution. Currently serving as VP Sales and Business Development at Film Movement since January 2014, Demetri oversees monetization of a library of over 400 independent films and manages licensing agreements with major North American media partners. Simultaneously, co-founding and leading Egg Shop since August 2014, Demetri created the business plan and managed the successful launch of two restaurant locations in New York City. Previous roles include Director of Sales and Distribution at Elephant Eye Films, Senior Associate at BCMS, and Co-Founder of August Five Entertainment. Demetri holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baruch College.

Film Movement
Founded in 2002, Film Movement is a North American distributor of award-winning independent and foreign films based in New York City. We have released more than 250 feature films and dozens of shorts culled from prestigious film festivals worldwide, including the Oscar-nominated films Theeb (2016) and Corpus Christi (2020). Film Movement’s theatrical releases include American independent films, documentaries, and foreign art house titles. Our catalog includes titles by directors such as Hirokazu Kore-eda, Maren Ade, Jessica Hausner, Andrei Konchalovsky, Andrzej Wajda, Diane Kurys, Ciro Guerra and Melanie Laurent. In 2015, Film Movement launched the reissue label Film Movement Classics, featuring new restorations released theatrically as well as on Blu-ray and DVD, including films by such noted directors as Eric Rohmer, Peter Greenaway, Bille August, Marleen Gorris, Takeshi Kitano, King Hu, Arturo Ripstein, Sergio Corbucci, Ettore Scola and Luchino Visconti. Our Omnibus Entertainment label was launched in 2014 to provide a home for a wider variety of films as well as TV and other types of programming. With the addition of the Bond 360 catalog of superb documentaries in 2017, Film Movement has further expanded its reach into the educational and library markets. In late 2018 we launched Film Movement Plus, a new subscription streaming service, available at FilmMovementPlus.com as well as on Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku and mobile devices.
