John Gapper

John Gapper is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in financial and business reporting. Currently serving as the Chief UK Business Columnist and FT Weekend Business Columnist at the Financial Times since September 2020, Gapper previously held the role of editor-at-large for Nikkei Asia from January 2020 to September 2020. His tenure at the Financial Times began in September 1992, where Gapper held various positions, including Associate Editor and Chief Business Commentator, Comment Editor, Media Editor, and Banking Editor. Earlier in his career, Gapper worked as an Employment Editor at the Financial Times and as a reporter for The Telegraph and Daily Mail. Gapper's journalism journey started as a trainee reporter at Mirror Media Group. Gapper earned a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford, completing studies from 1978 to 1981, and attended St. Benedict's School, Ealing from 1970 to 1977.
