Tom Mitchell has extensive experience in journalism, particularly focusing on China. Since March 2006, Tom has been with the Financial Times, serving in various roles including China Bureau Chief from January 2016 to February 2023, and has held positions such as Beijing correspondent and Deputy News Editor. Prior to joining the Financial Times, Tom worked at the South China Morning Post from April 2000 to February 2006, where roles included Deputy Business Editor and Guangdong Correspondent. Tom holds a Bachelor's degree in History with a minor in Mandarin Chinese from Duke University, completed in May 1992, and graduated from St. John's Prep in June 1988. Tom is currently on sabbatical.
