Carolyn Gouws has extensive work experience in the legal field. Carolyn started their career as a Company Secretary at The Business Bank Limited in 1999. Carolyn later joined The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited, where they served as the Head of the Legal Department from 2000 to 2003. After that, they worked as a Legal Advisor at WesBank, a division of First Rand Bank Limited, from 2003 to 2008. In 2009, they became the Company Secretary and Head of Legal at Saint-Gobain Construction Products South Africa (Pty) Limited. Carolyn continued their legal career as a self-employed attorney from 2017 to 2018. Most recently, they held the position of Head of Group Legal at Finbond Group Limited and FINBOND MUTUAL BANK in 2018. Throughout their career, Carolyn has been responsible for various legal aspects such as drafting agreements, managing litigation, handling regulatory and customer complaints, and providing expert legal advice.

Carolyn Gouws completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in Law from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika from 2000 to 2002. In 2001, they also obtained a Certificate in Value-Added Tax (VAT) from the same university.

In 1989, Carolyn Gouws completed a degree in B Proc (Bachelor of PROCuration) in Law from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, which they had attended from 1985 to 1989.

Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Environmental Law from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2015.

Before pursuing higher education, Carolyn Gouws attended Studywell College and obtained a Matric qualification, although specific dates for this qualification are not provided.
