David Muheirwe has over 15 years of work experience in information technology and project management. David is currently the Head of Information Technology at FINCA Uganda Limited (MDI) since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Project Manager at Mantra Technologies Limited from February 2020 to September 2021. David also served as the Head of IT at FINCA Impact Finance from November 2017 to October 2019. Before that, David held the role of Chief Information Officer/Head of ICT at Accion's UGAFODE from January 2016 to October 2017. David has also worked as a Regional Project Manager - Africa at FINCA International from September 2010 to December 2015. In addition, David has experience as a Lecturer at Kampala International University from January 2010 to October 2011. Their early career included working as the Information Technology Manager at Alam Group of Companies from January 2006 to July 2010, where they were responsible for delivering IT services to multiple companies within the group.

David Muheirwe holds an MBA degree in Project Management from Makerere University, which they obtained from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the same university from 2002 to 2005. In addition, they have obtained the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute in July 2013, and the ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management in March 2013.

FINCA Uganda started its operations in Jinja District in 1992 as a microfinance institution. In 2004, FINCA Uganda was licensed as a Microfinance Deposit Taking Institution (MDI) thus becoming the first MDI to be regulated by Bank of Uganda under the MDI Act of 2003. FINCA Uganda is part of the FINCA Impact Finance Network, a group of 20 microfinance and financial institutions that provides socially responsible financial services and enables low-income entrepreneurs and small business owners to invest in the future.
