James A. Frank

Chief Content Officer at GolfBevy

Jim Frank has been editing and writing about golf for nearly 40 years. He was Editor-in-Chief of Golf Connoisseur, a short-lived but award-winning luxury-lifestyle magazine directed to the private-club golfer. Before that, he was with Golf Magazine from 1984 to 2003, serving as Executive Editor and then Editor.

There is no subject in golf he hasn’t covered, from the pro tours to fashion, with an emphasis on golf history, travel, course architecture, and equipment. At last count, he has played 551 courses in 21 countries. (Don’t ask how many he remembers.)

As a freelance writer, Jim’s credits include Sports Illustrated, Golf Digest, Men’s Journal, Robb Report, Hemispheres, The Met Golfer, Golf International, and numerous other publications and websites. He is presently Senior Editor for LINKS Magazine.

Jim co-authored two of golf’s best-selling instruction books: Dave Pelz's Short-Game Bible and Dave Pelz's Putting Bible, as well as Dave Pelz: 10 Minutes a Day to Better Putting. In 2004, he co-wrote David Feherty's Totally Subjective History of the Ryder Cup. He also is the co-author and editor of GOLF Magazine's Complete Book of Golf Instruction; Golf in America: The First Hundred Years; and 500 World's Greatest Golf Holes. He’s written a few other golf books over the years, most of which are mercifully out of print.

After a recent move, Jim and his advertising-executive wife Belle—both native New Yorkers (okay, he’s really from New Jersey)—live in suburban Washington, D.C. He also has served as consulting editor for The Met Golfer (the magazine of the Metropolitan Golf Association) as well as New Jersey Monthly, Jewish Living, and Parks (National Parks Foundation) magazines, and is a consultant to various golf-related businesses and associations.
