Guillermo Rishchynski

Mr. Guillermo E. Rishchynski was appointed to the Board of Directors of FinDev Canada in April 2021.

Mr. Rishchynski retired from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Government of Canada on September 1, 2019. He held the position of the position of Director General for Canada at the IDB since January 1, 2016. He was the Regional Director of Marketing in Latin America for Interimco International before joining the Department of External Affairs and Foreign Trade in 1983, in title of assistant trade commissioner. He was posted to several foreign cities including Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Amman, Melbourne, Jakarta and Chicago, and from 1999 to 2002 he served as Ambassador in Bogotá, Colombia.

Within the department in Ottawa, he held the positions of Deputy Director of the Latin America and Caribbean Trade Directorate, Director of the Team Canada Task Force and Inspector General. In 2003, he assumed the role of Vice-President of the Americas Branch at the Canadian International Development Agency, before being appointed Ambassador to Brazil two years later. He became Ambassador to Mexico in 2007, then Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations in 2011.
