Derek Gallenberger, P.E. has a diverse range of work experience, starting in 2013 as a Golf Course Maintenance employee for Ozaukee County. In 2016, they worked as an Engineering Intern Student for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, where they served as a Concrete Pavement Inspector on the Milwaukee Lakefront Gateway Project Stage II. As an Engineering Intern Student in 2017, they worked on a smaller rehabilitation project of I-94 E-W in Waukesha County, WI. Later in 2017, they worked as an Associate at Fresh Madison Market before joining Lakeside Engineers, LLC in 2018 as a Project Engineer. In this role, Derek served as the Lead Roadway Inspector on a major project, the central segment of I-94 N-S reconstruction project ($80 million) in Racine County, WI. Derek joined J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. as an Assistant Project Manager in November 2019.

Derek Gallenberger, P.E. earned their Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2014 to 2018. During that time, they also pursued a Certificate in Environmental Studies, which they obtained from the same university from 2016 to 2018.

In addition to their formal education, Derek Gallenberger, P.E. has obtained several certifications. In April 2018, they became a Civil Engineer in Training certified by NCEES. Later on, in August 2019, they obtained the Procore Certified: Engineer certification from Procore Technologies. Most recently, in December 2021, they obtained the LEED Green Associate certification from USGBC Wisconsin.
