Paulo Sousa

Paulo Sousa is a seasoned software engineer and leader with extensive experience in technology and data science. Currently serving as the Founding Software Engineer at Finisterra Labs since October 2024, Paulo works on the Baselight decentralized data platform, focusing on scalable and secure solutions. Prior to this, Paulo held the position of VP of Data Science at LetsGetChecked, overseeing the implementation of a comprehensive data analytics platform. As CEO & CTO of Maxdata Software, S.A. from 2010 to 2021, Paulo drove significant market growth and enhanced customer satisfaction. Previous roles include Director of Innovation, Chief Dependability & Security Officer, Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Lisbon, and Research Scientist at LASIGE, where Paulo received the IBM Scientific Award in 2007. Educational credentials include a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Lisbon.
