Ian Schmidt is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in the gaming industry. Since May 2011, Ian has served as a Senior Software Engineer at Firaxis Games, where contributions include designing a data-driven multithreaded audio solution for Sid Meier's Civilization 6, along with core engine design and implementation work, and initial ports for iOS, Mac OS X, and Linux. Prior to this, Ian spent over 16 years at Electronic Arts Tiburon, contributing to numerous titles such as NFL Blitz and Madden NFL, while also developing EA-wide voice over IP technology. Ian holds a degree from Iowa State University, obtained from 1991 to 1994.
