Jim Stuart-Black MNZM (MInstD) has extensive leadership experience in emergency management and organizational strategy, currently serving as the Chairperson of the Board for Burnett Foundation Aotearoa since February 2023. As a Chief Advisor at Fire and Emergency NZ since July 2021, Jim provides expert advice on strategic enterprise planning and capability development while also holding various acting roles such as National Manager Property and National Investment and Portfolio Manager. Previously, Jim worked as a Principal Advisor for the National Emergency Management Agency (NZ) and served as a leader in the NZ Public Service from June 2012 to April 2021, overseeing significant organizational change initiatives. Early career highlights include strategic roles with Fire and Emergency NZ, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and the United Nations OCHA, focusing on operational systems and crisis response.
